  2. Device Edge – Device edge contains one or more small servers called nano servers. They have limited processing power and are located in places that aren’t typically associated with data centers.
  3. Computer Edge – Compute edge utilizes small data centers that are located next to IoT devices. The main advantage of computer edge is reduced system latency because data is less relative to the cloud.
  4. Sensor – IoT sensors are instruments that collect, collate and compile data whilst simultaneously performing monitoring actions. These instruments usually don’t contain any computing power and instead work through continuous communication with system edge, network edge, or cloud.

Multi-access cloud computing also can store, process, and compile content closer to cellular subscribers which enables faster response time and less data intensity.

 

Edge computing is a revolutionary new technology that is changing the way data is accessed and stored. When edge computing systems are integrated and used by IoT devices, latency and bandwidth are reduced. This vastly reduces the need for massive centralized data centers that consume enormous amounts of energy.

 

When computing takes place on the edge, it opens up the door for the efficient transfer of data that uses fewer resources than centralized cloud systems.
