They require employees to put their work aside for the duration of the training period, retain a lot of new information, then successfully put it into practice on their own. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While in the past, listening to an explanation or watching a one-time tutorial might have been adequate for learning offline processes, there\u2019s no way such an approach could cover all of the complexities and nuances on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walkme.com\/blog\/employee-onboarding-software\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contemporary software<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Training 2.0\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The same goes for Training 2.0. While this next generation of training tools actually includes digital solutions \u2014 such as LMS apps, <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/digitaladoption101\/its-all-fun-in-gamification-until-the-learning-ends-4c1f78eaa842\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gamification<\/a>, and other e-learning models \u2014 it still requires employees to complete training separate from their actual work. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They\u2019re still required to recall all of the new information once it\u2019s time to actually use new processes.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<h3>The forgetting curve is steep<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hermann Ebbinghaus came up with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/elearningindustry.com\/8-reasons-experiential-learning-future-learning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the learning curve<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 100 years ago. According to his theory, people rapidly lose their memory of new information over a short period of time. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He estimated that if you can absorb 100% of new information in one day, you will forget 50%-80% of what you learn each day afterward. Ultimately, the time and resources devoted to training (when your employees could have been working) go to waste.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<h2>Learning in the flow of work eliminates the \u2018forgetting curve\u2019<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Josh Bersin, world-renowned HR, talent, and learning analyst, says the world of corporate training has entered a new paradigm.
