But it\u2019s true, according to a Unit4\u2019s global study, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enterprisetimes.co.uk\/2021\/12\/10\/unit4-investigates-public-sector-digital-transformation\/\"><em>State of the Digital Nation<\/em><\/a>, based on a survey of 600 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walkme.com\/platform\/public-sector\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">public sector<\/a> decision-makers across Australia, Belgium, Canada, Sweden, the UK and the USA.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.walkme.com\/events\/digital-government-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Watch our session at UK Digital Government 2022<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the best intentions to deliver on the digital transformation promise, it seems that the government sector is struggling to play catch up and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walkme.com\/blog\/government-digital-transformation\/\">E-government adoption<\/a> is far from perfect.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does a digital government look like?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"What a digital government looks like | Anna Piperal\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kaU7IPlg9PA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the survey, 29% of organizations claim they have completed their digital transformation strategy, but not without a few major barriers still in the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>50% say it\u2019s lack of alignment between different departments\/functions, 49% state it was due to overly complex systems (49%), and 86% believe that people do not have the right skills or training to adapt to changes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That about says it all, doesn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The inevitable journey to digital government adoption<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With software as a service (SaaS) now delivering extensive infrastructure over the cloud, we see governments and public sector businesses adopting complex software portfolios to meet their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walkme.com\/solutions\/use-case\/digital-transformation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">digital transformation<\/a> needs, whether it&#8217;s employee productivity or citizen assets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And once implemented, getting the software adopted, well, that&#8217;s another challenge altogether.
